Terms of Service

Last updated: 18 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Vid2Book.com (“we”, “us”) for using this website and the books, account and library features it provides (the “Service”). By opening an account or using the Service you accept them. They are written in plain language, and where a legal word carries weight we say so. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use the Service.

1. What Vid2Book is

Vid2Book.com turns one or more public YouTube videos, or one or more of your uploaded videos, into a chapter-by-chapter study book — the presenter’s own words, matching clips, book-wide search and a glossary. Sources follow the order you select; YouTube videos and uploads cannot be mixed in the same book.

It is a study and learning aid for personal use. PDF export is currently disabled sitewide, your books are private to your account by default, and any material the AI adds beyond what is said in the video is labelled “Added by AI · not in the video”. Vid2Book.com is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google.

2. Who can use it

  • You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live, and legally able to form a contract.
  • Accounts open once a paid minute pack has been purchased; the Service is pay-as-you-go and there is no free account tier.
  • You are responsible for everything done under your account, for keeping your password private, and for telling us promptly at hello@vid2book.com if you believe someone else has used it.

3. The videos you submit

You may submit public YouTube videos or upload your own videos, provided you own them or have permission to upload and process them for study. For YouTube videos, follow YouTube’s Terms of Service and any licence the video carries, and you are responsible for the videos you submit and for what you do with the books made from them.

Uploaded videos may be analyzed for chapter previews before signup or payment. Generating a chapter plan does not deduct minutes or create a finished book. Writing requires paid account access and your approval of each stage.

Do not use the Service to reproduce material you have no right to, and do not submit private, unlisted or access-restricted videos that you are not entitled to use.

4. Copyright and who owns what

  • The video and its underlying material belong to their creator or to whoever holds the rights. Vid2Book.com claims no ownership of third-party video content, and using the Service transfers no rights to you.
  • Generated text stays faithful to the source. Chapters follow the presenter’s own words, order, terminology and examples, with only filler, false starts and repetitions removed and grammar corrected. Anything the AI adds is labelled “Added by AI · not in the video” so you can always tell the two apart.
  • Your licence to use a book is for your own study. Because a book is derived from a video you may not own, you may read, search and revisit your books for your own personal study, but you may not republish, sell, license, publicly post or otherwise distribute a book, its text, or its clips — in whole or in substantial part — without the rights holder’s permission.
  • Demo books. Some demo books on the site are built from videos published under a Creative Commons Attribution licence; those pages carry the licence notice and a link to YouTube’s explanation, as YouTube itself does. That notice covers those source videos only, and is not a licence claim about your own videos or about generated text.
  • Copyright complaints. If you believe a book on this Service reproduces your work without permission, email hello@vid2book.com with the book’s address, the work you own, a description of the material concerned, and your contact details. We will look into it and remove access where the complaint is well founded.

5. Prices, minute packs and payment

All prices are in US dollars. You buy prepaid minutes; one hour of video costs 60 minutes and one minute costs $0.10 — that is, $6 per video hour. The current packs are:

  • Starter — 60 minutes, $6
  • Study — 300 minutes, $30
  • Scholar — 600 minutes, $60
  • Library — 1,500 minutes, $150

Payments are handled by our payment provider (Stripe); we do not store full card numbers. Minutes are credited to your balance once payment is confirmed. We may change prices, and a change applies to purchases made after it takes effect. Any tax that applies is collected by the payment provider.

6. Minute deductions, refunds and disputes

  • You approve each writing stage. Chapter planning deducts no minutes. Approve the plan and its quote to write the first 10% of chapters, rounded to the nearest whole chapter with at least one. This is a paid sample, and 10% refers to chapters, not duration or cost. Writing waits for sample review before you separately approve the entire remainder. If all chapters fit in the sample, there is no remainder. Each batch shows its exact deduction and requires confirmation and sufficient balance. Unapproved coverage is never written or charged. Charges use approved video coverage, with cumulative whole-minute rounding so stages do not add extra rounding charges.
  • Confirmed minutes are committed to the approved batch. Completed coverage stays charged if you choose not to continue. Unfinished charged coverage qualifies for the restorations below. Buying minutes does not approve a writing stage.
  • Pause, resume or cancel. Pausing does not refund minutes. Resuming continues only already-approved work; it never approves the next stage. Cancellation is permanent and stops further creation, but finished chapters remain readable.
  • If the book isn’t finished, the unfinished part comes back. Where creation fails, where part of the video is rejected by our processing provider, or where you stop creation yourself, the minutes covering that unfinished portion are restored to your balance. Minutes for chapters that were already written stay charged — we never restore the whole book when only part of it failed. Unapproved coverage was never charged. Missing-chapter retries in the existing attempt are free; starting a new book after compensation is a separate paid attempt. Restored minutes go to your balance, not automatically to your payment card. See our Refund Policy for details.
  • Minutes you never spent are refundable. Prepaid minutes left unused on your balance can be refunded. Refunds that involve already-spent minutes, chargebacks or disputes are reviewed by a person, and we may keep an account suspended while a payment dispute is open.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • interfere with, disable or probe the Service, or work around payment, limits or access controls;
  • rent, resell, share or transfer your account, your minutes, or access to your books;
  • run automated bulk submissions or scraping beyond ordinary use of the site;
  • upload malicious code, or use the Service for anything unlawful, harassing or infringing;
  • reverse engineer the software, except where the law expressly allows it.

8. Availability, changes and suspension

The Service runs “as is” and “as available”. Features may be added, changed or removed, and we don’t promise uninterrupted operation. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and where we reasonably can we’ll tell you why. If we ever discontinue the Service, we’ll notify account holders and deal with unused prepaid minutes.

9. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the Service and every book it produces are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted availability.

AI-assisted text can contain errors, omissions or misstatements. Check anything important against the source video before relying on it. Books are not professional, legal, medical, financial or academic advice, must not be presented as such, and remain your responsibility to interpret and use.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Vid2Book.com and its owner are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with the Service, even if we have been told such loss might occur.

Our total liability for any claim connected with the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited, and if your country’s law does not allow these limits, they apply only as far as that law permits.

11. If a claim arises from your videos

If you submit a video, you agree to defend and hold harmless Vid2Book.com and its staff from claims, losses and costs, including reasonable legal fees, arising from the video you submitted, from your use of the Service, or from your breach of these terms.

12. Ending your use

You can stop using the Service at any time and ask us to close your account. We can suspend or close an account for breach of these terms, an unresolved payment dispute, or legal risk. Closing an account does not by itself refund minutes already spent on books that were written.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version always lives at this address with a “last updated” date, and for material changes we’ll try to give notice in advance by email or in the app. Using the Service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
