Vid2Book is pay-as-you-go. You buy a prepaid pack of minutes — there is no subscription — and approving a writing stage deducts minutes from that balance. One minute costs $0.10, which works out to $6 for one hour of video. The current packs are:
A book can contain one or more ordered YouTube videos, or one or more of your uploaded videos; these source types cannot be mixed in one book. A fully written book's cost is the combined source-video length rounded up to whole minutes: 42 minutes of video costs 42 minutes, while 42 minutes and 20 seconds costs 43 minutes. Processing time and chapter count do not determine the charge.
Generating and reviewing the chapter plan deducts no minutes and writes no book text. Approve the plan and its displayed deduction to write the first 10% of chapters, rounded to the nearest whole chapter with at least one. This sample is paid: 10% refers to chapter count, not video duration or price. Writing then waits for you to review the sample and separately approve the entire remainder. If the sample includes all chapters, no further writing is needed.
Before each writing batch, you see the exact deduction and your balance. The batch cannot start without your confirmation and enough minutes. Buying a pack or resuming work does not approve another batch. Unapproved coverage is never written or charged. Confirmed minutes are committed to that batch, subject to the unfinished-coverage restorations below; completed coverage is not refunded just because you decide not to continue.
Each deduction is the rounded-up total approved video coverage minus minutes already charged to the book. This cumulative calculation prevents extra rounding charges and can make a later batch's additional deduction zero. Restorations also retain the rounded-up aggregate charge for successful coverage rather than rounding each failed chapter separately.
You are charged only for what we actually wrote. If a section of the video fails and cannot be turned into a chapter after retries — for example because our processing provider rejects it — the charged minutes for unfinished coverage are automatically restored to your balance. Failure reasons are recorded for administrator review. This is a minute-balance credit, not an automatic cash refund.
We never restore the whole book when only part of it failed. Minutes for chapters that were written stay charged, even if other chapters could not be completed. After a failure is compensated, you can start a new paid attempt for the same video at any time; the failed attempt stays in your library with its record.
Retrying missing chapters in the existing attempt is free. If a chapter succeeds on a retry, you are charged for it exactly once. Starting a new book after compensation is a separate paid attempt.
Creation waits automatically for chapter-plan approval and again after the writing sample. You may leave it at either review stage without approving or paying for further writing. While work is underway, the book's owner can pause or resume it, or cancel creation permanently. Finished chapters stay readable.
Cancelling restores unused charged coverage to your minute balance, not directly to your card; if you want those minutes paid back to your card instead, see section 5.
Minutes never expire. They stay on your balance until you use them, and unused prepaid minutes can be refunded on request — email hello@vid2book.com with your account email and we'll return what is left on the balance.
Refunds that involve minutes already spent on books, chargebacks, or payment disputes are reviewed by a person rather than automated, and we may keep an account suspended while a payment dispute is open. If we ever discontinue the Service, account holders are notified and unused prepaid minutes are dealt with then.
Email hello@vid2book.com with the email on your account, the book or charge involved, and what happened. Failed-section refunds happen on their own and need no request; for everything else we aim to review and answer within a few business days. Approved cash refunds go back through the original payment method.
We may update this policy as features change. The current version always lives at this address with a "last updated" date above. A purchase keeps the terms it was bought under; a change applies to purchases made after it takes effect.
